Grand Lake is one of the most picturesque places in Colorado. Jon has always enjoyed hiking the nearby trails and painting the scenery in and around the lake. This piece was painted with a knife and shows the lake peeking thru the trees from the trail east of the lake. The underpainting of blue provides atmosphere behind the pine trees and sets off the red in the "beetle-kill" trees.
